Abstract
Heterocyclic compounds are important to life. Modern society depends on synthetic heterocycles to be used as drugs i.e., anticancer agents and antibiotics. In addition to its importance to biology, heterocyclic chemistry has seen intense study in various areas of photosensitizers, polymers, coordination compounds, dyes, and many other fields. The urea is originally regarded to be a key ingredient in the manufacture of industrial chemicals and the formation of heterocycles. In this review article, the focus is on the synthesis of heterocycles using urea.
