Abstract

This paper introduces an optimal control strategy to improve the operation of Photovoltaic (PV) grid connected system. Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), a meta-heuristic algorithm, is employed to control proportional-integral (PI) controller of DC/DC and DC/AC converters for efficient incorporation of PV into grid. The efficacy of the GWO is compared with Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm (GOA) and Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA) under varying irradiance condition. The complete simulation model is implemented in Matlab Simulink and editor. The achieved transient performance show the feasibility and viability of the adopted GWO approach.
