Abstract
The growth of water hyacinth has been a great concern for many years. Its growth hampers the flora and fauna of aquatic ecosystem. The diversity of fish stocks is also affected by the proliferation of water hyacinth. Since the plant causes terrible nuisance it must be utilized to produce some useful sources of energy. The useful properties of water hyacinth will be utilized to form end products. This paper reviews the research done on the processes of extracting useful by-products from water hyacinth. Considering the nuisance caused by this aquatic weed it is very much necessary to convert it into some useful source of energy. Hence the main aim of this paper is to study the various articles published on water hyacinth as the source of renewable energy.
