Abstract

Friction stir welding is a solid-state method that is safe for the environment. Both dissimilar and similar materials have been joined using it. AAA5083 Aluminium alloy is widely utilised in many industries, including railways, automotive, and aerospace. The purpose of the study is to provide a comparative analysis of similar AA5083 friction stir welded joints while taking into account the corrosion behaviour. However, its behaviour with other aluminium alloys and other materials that were considered for corrosion behaviour was also presented. The effects of welding parameters had been demonstrated on the microstructural changes and how they may influence the strength and corrosion behaviour. Furthermore, investigating how corrosion affects the mechanical properties of AA5083 is an area that should be explored. The synergy between grain size, strength, and corrosion of AA5083 aluminium alloy and other aluminium alloys warrants more investigation.
