Abstract
In the not-too-distant future, three-dimensional (3D) printing technology is destined to alter our way of life, work, and play in almost every major industry. In today's world, 3D printing is used extensively in numerous industries, including the food industry, construction, and health care. Rapid prototyping technology, also known as 3D printing, helps to create a physical object from a geometrical representation by successively adding materials. It has become an alternative to 2D printing that does not require toners and ink and has reduced the cost of manufacturing in industries. 3D printing has also created a new image in the minds of people and is used in producing things from fashion wear to architecture. 3D printing technology also plays an important role in the medical field by printing functional tissues. It is quite useful in manufacturing as well. As per researchers, the global 3D printing market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 23.3% from 2023 to 2030. In this chapter, the field of 3D printing technology is explored along with its applications with specific reference to the manufacturing, industrial education, food industry, and medical field. By exploring the applications of 3D printing in manufacturing, education, healthcare, and the food industry, this study aims to provide insights into the benefits, advancements, and transformative capabilities of 3D printing, guiding future research and innovation in this field.
