Abstract
Tropical volcanic ash is a cheap and sustainable source of high purity silica for the synthesis of zeolites; the zeolite type, whether Na–X, Na–P or hydroxysodalite, depends on the amount of SiO 2 and Na 2 O in the synthesis hydrogels.
