Stable Cd<sup>II</sup>-Based Metal–Organic Framework as a Multiresponsive Luminescent Sensor for Acetylacetone, Salicylaldehyde, and Benzaldehyde with High Sensitivity and Selectivity

Abstract

A class of potential luminescent sensing materials has been gradually developed in the form of luminescent metal–organic frameworks (LMOFs). A new LMOF with the formula {[Cd(BBZB)(bptc) 0.5 ]·2H 2 O} n ( JXUST-33, BBZB = 4,7-bis(1 H -benzimidazole-1-yl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole, H 4 bptc = biphenyl-3,3′,5,5′-tetracarboxylic acid) has been successfully constructed, which exhibits the stability of structure and effectiveness of luminescence. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies have shown that two adjacent Cd II ions are linked by a bptc 4– ligand in different directions to form a plane that is further linked by interlaced BBZB ligands to form a three-dimensional two-fold interpenetrating framework. JXUST-33 can be used as a fluorescent probe to identify various organic molecules and detect three different organic compounds by the fluorescence quenching behavior of its luminescence properties. In addition, mixed substrate films based on JXUST-33 have been developed to achieve detection of acac, SA, and BZ via the naked eye, which has great potential for practical applications.
