A global perspective on urban thermal environment: From satellite data to sustainable development
Maomao Zhang
Abstract
Understanding global urban surface thermal environment heterogeneity is vital for cooling strategies and sustainable development. In a recent Cell Reports Sustainability article, Yang et al. conducted a systematic study of land surface temperature and its drivers in 1,469 cities worldwide. Here, we discuss the broader implications for climate adaptation and urban sustainability.
