Research on 5G RedCap Standard and Key Technologies

Abstract

3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 17 (R17) focuses on low-cost terminals, uplink rates, low-power devices, and low-latency technologies. As the work on R17 comes to the final stage, the reduced-capability (RedCap) technology enters the product development and test verification stage as an effective solution to achieve low cost. The paper first introduces the background and standardization of RedCap, then analyzes the key technologies of RedCap, and finally conducts experimental verification of key performance, which provides a practical and reliable reference for global RedCap promotion and implementation.
