Abstract

Conducting a thorough evaluation of the insulation integrity for vehicle cable terminals is imperative for guaranteeing the reliability and safety of the traction power supply system (TPSS) in high-speed electric multiple units (EMUs). Consequently, the prompt evaluation of the insulation status for vehicle cable terminals holds paramount importance for the early identification of potential faults, the strategic optimization of maintenance schedules, and the prolongation of equipment lifespan. Initially, this article delineates the architecture of vehicle cable terminals, factors contributing to insulation degradation, and failure mechanism analysis, subsequently offering an exhaustive review of cutting-edge methodologies employed in evaluating the insulation integrity of vehicle cable terminals for high-speed EMUs. The methodologies for assessing insulation predominantly encompass approaches for detecting defects and evaluating insulation aging, with a particular focus on elucidating their merits, constraints, and practical relevance. In conclusion, the manuscript articulates the challenges encountered in evaluating the insulation conditions of vehicle cable terminals and anticipates potential avenues for future research. It is anticipated that the contributions of this work will not only catalyze enhancements and innovations in the methodologies for assessing the insulation conditions of vehicle cable terminals but also furnish an enriched knowledge base for researchers and scholars within this domain.
