Abstract

According to a GFK survey, more than 81 percent of women population have experienced some type of harassment in their lifetime, and this is the evidence for the level of adversities they have to overcome in terms of their confidence, growth, and progress in a society constantly haunted by the idea of an unsafe environment which has derailed their potential to succeed and deprived them of freedom and equal rights as men. They have the right to express themselves freely at any time they want without worrying about their well-being and safety or a need for a chaperone in public while dealing with their activities. Therefore, keeping these situations in mind, we have come with an IoT-based device to solve this societal problem. The prime purpose of this device is to equip women with a gadget that can give them a sense of protection and peace of mind while being out in public at any odd hour without feeling helpless and cautious. This device consists of various modules such as Arduino UNO, GPS, GSM, LCD, Pulse Rate Sensor, and emergency button. Our research is based on a self-defense system for women’s safety to aid them in different types of worst-case scenarios from molestation and harassment to the possibility of getting kidnapped in streets, public transports, and cabs by drivers. In various fields, like education, business, and health sector to name a few, women are leading and contributing a great amount but still, there could have been many more women serving humanity have we not had these harassment and safety issues depriving them of their deserving roles in the society. Hence, by making use of this device, women will no longer have to worry about their safety in public.
