Abstract

This article presents load independent zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) parallel resonant Class E inverter, which is based on parallel resonant Class E inverter. A new detailed analysis and design procedure at any duty ratio are introduced. This circuit can maintain ZVS and a constant amplitude ac output current over a wide range of load resistance from a nominal value to short circuit without additional elements or feedback control. A prototype circuit was designed with the proposed equations at the nominal load resistance 20.0 Ω, the output power 10.0 W, the output current 1 A, and the operating frequency 1.00 MHz. In circuit simulation using PSIM and in circuit experiments, ZVS and constant amplitude ac output current were confirmed at the load resistance 1.00, 5.00, 10.0, 15.0, and 20.0 Ω.
