Abstract
Linear water soluble cellulosic poly(protic ionic liquid) electrolytes were facilely and atom economically prepared after dissolution of cellulose in a DBU/CO 2 /DMSO solvent system, and can be used as an efficient catalyst for the Knoevenagel condensation reaction in water.
