Evaluation of ZnO infused CA/PCL nanocomposites using potential wastewater treatment and invitro anticancer activity

Abstract

In this present study explores the multifunctional potential of ZnO@CA/PCL nanocomposites, delving into their efficacy in wastewater treatment and exhibiting promising in vitro anticancer activity. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by Scanning SEM, TGA, XRD, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results of an invitro anticancer activity showed the significant cytotoxic effect of ZnO nanoparticles on the ACHN renal cancer cell line. The photocatalytic activity of ZnO@CA/PCL nanocomposites were evaluated by monitoring the degradation of congo red (CR) and rhodamine-B (RhB) dyes under UV illumination. The degradation efficacy of the rhodamine-B (90%) was higher than that of the congo red dye (80%) after 60 min of irradiation under UV light.
