Abstract
Shape memory polyurethanes are polymers with reversible, temporarily cross-linked networks that enable them to retain and recover their original shapes. While shape memory polyurethanes offer many advanced functionalities and benefits, certain aspects of their production and lifecycle pose sustainability concerns. Herein, we fabricated shape memory polyurethanes with self-healing properties by incorporating disulfide bonding into the polymer system. We then further developed them as resins for the digital light processing technique, advancing the 4D printing capability of shape memory polyurethanes. Through additive manufacturing, the sustainability of shape memory polyurethanes is enhanced by minimizing material waste, optimizing energy efficiency, and enabling the production of customized, high-performance components.
