Abstract

An organic–inorganic hybrid material of C 10 H 10 ClNO 3 exhibits a large experimental birefringence value of 0.345@550 nm, resulting from the new birefringence-active structural gene of expanded planar [C 10 H 8 NO 2 ] + groups.
