Abstract
As the population of older adults increases the need for their health monitoring and their daily activities monitoring also increases. By 2050, there will be more than 319 million older people, three times the 2011 census, according to India's Longitudinal Aging Survey (LASI). The older adult population's percentage share of the overall population is expected to rise from 8.6% in 2011 to 10.1% in 2021, reaching 13.1% in 2031. Due to the rapid increase in demand for monitoring elderly people many ideas and applications came into the picture but only a few succeeded. IoT is considered to be the most widely used monitoring in this generation. Thus, the study of applications of IoT in elderly health monitoring systems which can monitor older adults from distance is the focus of this paper. It also categorizes the application in two aspects such as IoT based Video Surveillance Monitoring and monitoring using Wearable Sensors.
