Abstract

Atomic-scale investigation of layered thermoelectric materials reveals the positional disordering of heterovalent cations (Ge +2 /Bi +3 and Sn +2 /Bi +3 ) in the crystal lattice (the 3 a Wyckoff site) of ternary MBi 2 Te 4 (M = Ge, Sn) compounds.
