Abstract

This paper discussed on the rectangular patch antenna designs and performances using inset-fed feeding technique. Two antenna arrangements are presented with the first one is using basic rectangular patch while the second antenna is based on 4×1 array with corporate feeding arrangement. Both antennas are designed at 2.5 GHz, on microstrip substrate, type FR4 with dielectric constant, ε r =4.3 and thickness of h = 1.6mm. The antennas are simulated using CST Microwave Studio software and fabricated to validate the work. The performances are measured in terms of return loss, gain, and directivity and are found agreeable with simulations. It was found that the array antenna has successfully increased the gain 4 times higher and improved directivity compared to the single patch antenna making it a good candidate for wireless and WiMax applications.
