Abstract

By an acid-directed strategy, β-Mo<sub>2</sub>C nanomaterials embedded in a nitrogen doped carbon matrix (β-Mo<sub>2</sub>C/NC) with controlled morphology are synthesized and exhibit outstanding HER activities in both acidic and alkaline solutions.
