Abstract

Synthetic micro/nanomotors are micro or nanoscale robotic devices capable of transforming diverse energy into mechanical motion. When conventionally regenerative therapeutics confronting barriers such as invasive surgery, low targeting accuracy and inefficiency, miniaturized robotic platforms with minimal invasiveness, high precision and efficiency, hold great promise to solve above challenges. In this review, state-of-art application and current progress of micro/nanomotors for regenerative medicine are described. Their potential applications in precise cell delivery, cell proliferation/differentiation inducing for regenerative medicine are presented, as well as the design strategies of the micro/nanomotor platforms. Finally, the perspectives and future challenges in translating the potential of micro/nanomotors into clinical regenerative therapy are discussed.
