Abstract
The Internet of today is reaching its full potential, with nearly four billion connected devices over the world. The next wave of internet, Internet of Things (IoT) needs reliable and fault tolerant connection. Cloud computing provides a reliable solution to the current infrastructure demands. But due to limitations in bandwidth, execution time and resource management in existing designs, the expansion is unavoidable. One such paradigm is Fog computing which essentially brings the processing and storage at the edge of the network. This upgrade of existing system from Cloud-only to Edge-ward requires simulation and modelling before the actual implementation. Many software simulation tools are available for this purpose. One of the most in demand and usable tool is iFogSim. This simulator comes with many predefined features and built-in templates to facilitate the simulation of Cloud-Fog scenarios. The simulator provides tools and detail reports for system behavior and analysis. This paper provides an overview of the tool, along with its unique features and benefits. This tool can be used to successfully simulate any Fog Computing scenarios.
