Abstract

This paper deals with a bidirectional fast charger for charging of EVs. This charger includes an AC-DC converter for active rectification and a DC-DC isolated converter for the battery charging. The DC-DC converter is a three level DAB (Dual Active Bridge) isolated converter, which is controlled using DPS (Dual Phase Shift) control. The phase shift is controlled with optimum selection to reduce switch voltage stress. The three phase AC-DC converter is controlled by SPWM based voltage control. The designed control system is validated through MATLAB/Simulink and it is tested on OPAL-RT CHIL (controller hardware-in-loop) interface. A50kW charger is simulated and it is tested on different charging and discharging voltages and currents.
