Abstract

Substandard industrial production and accidental leaks can lead to serious groundwater contamination. In particular, organic pollutants produce continuous pollution in groundwater and endanger human health. Sustained release materials (SRM) have a lower release rate and a longer release period to prolong the process of chemical oxidation. At the same time, they have a certain load capacity that is sufficient to overcome the lack of oxygen and carbon sources in microbial low-temperature groundwater environments. SRM has proven to be a highly potential remediation material due to its excellent physical and chemical properties. Its combination with traditional in-situ remediation methods has become the preferred remediation technology for more and more contaminated site cases. This article reviews the types and proportion of combination methods of SRM in recent years, explores the feasibility of SRM as an oxidant in the chemical oxidation process and as a stable oxygen source and carbon source in the microbial remediation process, and explores the feasibility of SRM in different forms and laboratory situations.
