Abstract

(Abstracted from N Engl J Med 2020;383:1340–1348) Because of the well-established association between oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer, as of December 2019 a total of 124 countries and territories had implemented HPV vaccination programs. Studies have demonstrated that HPV vaccination protects against HPV infection, genital warts, and high-grade precancerous cervical lesions.
