Abstract
Generation of energy based on solar photovoltaic (SPV) model is one of the biggest contributions in renewable-based electricity generation. Low energy conversion is the main downside of this model. This problem can be solved by using maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique. Perturb and Observe (P&O) one of the algorithms for tracking MPP. This research compares the various P&O algorithm under varying solar radiation. The first one is the traditional P&O algorithm, the second one different from the traditional one by incorporating PV current change (dI) in the flowchart and the third one is the drift-free P&O algorithm. The entire research is carried out in Simulink to predict the performance under varying solar radiation and load change. The simulation outcome shows that the drift-free algorithm gives better results compared to others in terms of fast response, oscillation, and drift problems. Further, this method gives the highest generated energy compare to other methods.
