Abstract

Plasma membrane (PM) phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) homeostasis in stimulated cells is mediated by recruiting the lipid transfer protein Nir2 to endoplasmic reticulum (ER)–PM junctions. In this article, Nir1 is identified as a novel ER–PM junction localized protein that promotes Nir2 recruitment for PIP2 homeostasis.
