Intermediate-spin iron(<scp>iv</scp>)-oxido species with record reactivity
Peter Comba, George Nunn, Frederik Scherz, Paul H. Walton
Abstract
The iron( iv )-oxido-chlorido complex shown has an S = 1 ground state and is the most reactive nonheme iron oxidant. It is shown that the reactivity relates to the energy of the d x 2 − y 2 orbital and therefore to the ligand field strength of the co-ligand.
