Abstract

Dear Editor, COVID‐19 vaccinations represent one of the most important tools to fight the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic.1 However, since the start of vaccination campaigns, several concerns about possible adverse reactions were raised, particularly in patients with inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis, and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).2 In this context, we read with great interest the article published recently in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology by Pakhchanian et al.,3 who evaluated the safety and efficacy of COVID‐19 vaccination, including the risk of adverse events (AEs), in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). In particular, the authors reported the results of a retrospective cohort study based on a multicentre research network (TriNetX, Cambridge, MA, USA), comparing a group of patients with HS and a control group. Interestingly, the authors showed that patients with HS did not have a higher risk of vaccine‐related AEs. We report data from our centre at the University of Naples Federico II (Naples Italy) on patients with HS undergoing COVID‐19 vaccinations. Particularly, patients referring at our outpatient clinic suffering from HS were consecutively enrolled in the study. For each patient the following data were recorded: (i) demographic data, (ii) HS history and treatment, (iii) data on COVID‐19 vaccinations, and (iv) any eventual AEs correlated with the vaccination.
