Abstract

are involved in the nitrogen-source dependent 5-FC resistance by regulating the expression of the paralogs of cytosine permease and deaminase genes. Our study not only identifies the new function of paralogs of the cytosine permease and deaminase and the role of their regulatory transcription factors but also denotes the differences in the mechanism of 5-FC resistance among the two etiologic agents of cryptococcosis under different nitrogen sources.
