Abstract

The performance analysis of 250W, 12/10, 500 rpm permanent magnet assisted outer rotor switched reluctance motor (SRM) for electric vehicle application is presented in this work. This work traces its flow by identifying the best laminating material among M19, M15-26Ga, M45-24Ga, 64F190, M1000-100A,M700-65A and then puts forth a proposal for permanent magnet assisted SRM. The permanent magnet is located in the stator's auxiliary poles, and the magnet orientation ensures that the motor generates higher average torque with minimum cogging torque. Three different orientations of permanent magnets namely horizontal, vertical and perpendicular orientation are considered and a detailed electromagnetic analysis is carryout to highlight the advantages of the proposed configuration.
