Abstract

The benefits of endovascular therapy provided soon after the onset of acute ischemic stroke due to large-vessel occlusion in the proximal anterior cerebral circulation were established by five clinical trials, the results of which were published in 2015.1 The DAWN (DWI or CTP Assessment with Clinical Mismatch in the Triage of Wake-Up and Late Presenting Strokes Undergoing Neurointervention with Trevo) trial2 and the DEFUSE 3 (Endovascular Therapy Following Imaging Evaluation for Ischemic Stroke) trial3 subsequently showed that endovascular therapy was beneficial up to 24 hours after the onset of stroke in patients who were selected on the basis of advanced . . .
