Abstract

In the past decade, it has been observed that polymer nanocomposite industrialisation is increasing due to several advantages. So, this area is becoming vital for researchers for making new material as per technical applications. Polymer nanocomposite can be made from different types of polymers and involves one or more nanofillers coupled with it. A major application of such polymer is in the aerospace and automotive industries. In this review, several metal oxide nanofillers and their hybrid state are chosen for understanding benefits in tribology throughout recent decades. Observation of friction and wear enhancement with several other technical circumstances are taken into account from various articles of metal oxide nanofiller in polymer nanocomposite. Alumina, zinc oxide, and titanium oxide are found to be most used among other metallic nanofillers for most polymer nanocomposite fabrication in the tribology area.
