Phononic crystal as a homogeneous viscous metamaterial

Abstract
The authors show that the effective viscosity of a phononic crystal with rectangular rigid rods immersed in water may be equivalent to the viscosity of such viscous fluids as oil or honey, depending on the direction of propagation of sound.
