Abstract
• Outdoor recreation is an often overlooked planning category in the coastal zone. • PPGIS is a useful method approach to collect spatial input on outdoor recreation. • Public data collection provides important spatial insights in coastal zone planning. • National, regional and local planning work benefits from collection of PPGIS data. • The PPGIS approach can favorably be anchored among local and regional planners.
