Analysis of Spoke Array Permanent Magnet Flux Reversal Machines

Abstract
In this article, spoke array permanent magnet (PM) flux reversal machines (SAPM FRM), which feature spoke array PMs distributed along the stator inner surface, are proposed to improve the torque density. Compared with the conventional surface mounted PM flux reversal machine (SPM FRM), the proposed SAPM FRM can produce about 100% larger torque with negligible torque ripple, as well as higher efficiency and higher power factor. Two prototypes have been built and tested to validate the theoretical analyses.
