Abstract

We report the generation of O 2 (a 1 Δ g ) via direct charge-transfer excitation of the solvent (S)–O 2 (X 3 Σ g − ) collision complex and utilize it for the catalyst-free oxidative coupling of arylamines to azoaromatics under ambient conditions.
