Abstract

Virtual higher education has emerged as a key model for diversifying learning opportunities, especially for populations with limited access to face-to-face modalities. Within this context, language teaching benefits greatly from the use of digital tools, which facilitate interactive, autonomous and personalized learning. These technologies allow students to develop language skills through innovative and accessible activities. The study aimed to analyze the impact of the use of digital tools in Kichwa language learning at the Intercultural University of Indigenous Nationalities and Peoples “Amawtay Wasi”. With a mostly quantitative approach and non-experimental cross-sectional design, a sample of 75 students was surveyed using a structured questionnaire. The digital tools analyzed included Canva, Genially, Educaplay, Wordwall and Cerebriti, all selected for their pedagogical relevance. The processed data evidenced a significant positive impact, with a bivariate correlation of r =0.807, indicating a strong association between the use of these tools and progress in Kichwa language learning. The results achieved highlight the role of educational technology as mediators in the preservation and teaching of native languages in virtual environments.
