Analysis of challenges facing smart buildings projects in Egypt

Abstract
Nowadays; the New Administrative Capital (NAC) is being established in Egypt; NAC project is considered the 1st smart city in Egypt where thousands of SBP are being constructed. During establishing SBP in Egypt many challenges evolve; those challenges include, but not limited to lack of guidelines, vague objectives, ignoring life cycle costs, lack of framework, etc. The objective of the paper was fulfilled first; through analysis of literature sources in order to identify the main risks and challenges that face international SBP and second; through a questionnaire survey that targeted some design managers, project managers, facility managers, architects and developers who are involved in the field of SBP in Egypt. Finally; a comparison was conducted between the challenges of SBP that were extracted from the analysis of literature sources, and those that were determined through application of the questionnaire survey.
