Abstract
For decades, both software engineering researchers and practitioners have been concerned with software quality. This work summarizes the difficulties encountered in the quest for transferring to the industry the research work conducted on software metrics, which led to the creation of a spinoff/start-up that became an international accredited laboratory. In this laboratory we focus on the evaluation of two ISO/IEC 25010 quality characteristics: Functional Suitability and Maintainability. The evaluations of the laboratory have been used as the basis for a certification scheme on software product quality.
