Abstract

This article presents a broadband multicomponent magnetic probe with improved electric-field suppression performance. First, two orthogonal sensing loops were introduced into a magnetic probe to capture simultaneously two orthogonal magnetic-field components. Then, a via array and fence were used to adjust impedance matching and restrain unwanted electromagnetic modes, respectively. In addition, shielding vias were arranged on the upper part of these loops to improve electric-field suppression performance. As a result, high electric-field suppression was obtained in the composite probe using shielding vias. Finally, the proposed magnetic probe was simulated, fabricated, and tested to verify the design’s rationality.
