Abstract

Mechanisms of ciliary transport of ARL13B, a common ciliary protein, by TULP3 are described. An amphipathic helix preceding the ARL13B GTPase domain that couples with the TULP3 tubby domain for ciliary transport is identified. These findings implicate the tubby domain in capturing helical secondary structural motifs from cargoes.
