Abstract

This paper presents a review of control methodologies for Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) focused on the impact of LED Lighting Systems in Smart Buildings (SB) in order to reduce the energy consumption level while maintaining the user comfort levels. SB fundamentals is revised focused in the comfort, security, energy efficiency and communications in buildings using integrated technologies and protocols. It also presents an integrated architecture between BEMS and Building Automation Systems (BAS) in order to achieve the necessary services to implement the selected control methodology. The LED Lighting Systems control methodologies are revised. Finally, an Intelligent Building Energy Management System (IBEMS) architecture is proposed for LED Lighting Systems in SB.
