Abstract

India has a huge potential for numerous crops production which are proficiently valued for small grower to the highest producers. Considering, the social and economic applicability, especially in case of productivity both in quality as well as the quantity. Multiple factors are stick with economically important crops, among all, plant viruses are predominant. Emphasising begomovirus has emerged as severe constraints of the production of many crops in tropical and sub-tropical regions. The largest genus Begomovirus are naturally transmitted by whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) infecting a wide variety of crops with significant losses. This review stress on current status of begomoviruses infecting various crops varieties and approaches for its management. We focused on the pathogenesis, genetic flexibility and recombination of begomovirus responsible for the wide host range. The present study entails the view and understanding of different approaches for the begomovirus management which state knowledge about limiting the crop losses.
