Abstract

In this paper we present our experiences in designing, developing and deploying the essential components of effective disaster relief technology using the crowdsourced approach, based on our disaster relief platform named Amrita Kripa. We present both the technical and humanitarian aspects of Amrita Kripa. Amrita Kripa has been used in providing disaster relief during both 2018 and 2019 Kerala floods. We also share some of the feedback from various users during the disaster and how the feedback helped Amrita Kripa to evolve into a flexible, user-friendly and effective disaster relief platform. We also present a comprehensive comparison with other relief applications based on the crowdsourced approach.
