Abstract

E-waste seems to be a major concern in modern technological world. Appropriate management and treatment of E-waste is necessary to prevent various adverse effects on human health and the environment. To this end, various studies have focused on E-waste recycling. Furthermore, heavy metals present in E-waste raise an additional concern while their recovery can have a significant impact on resource availability and related economics. The effect of E-waste type and their composition on the various available treatment methods, as well as the heavy metal leaching methods, like chemical leaching and bioleaching along with factors affecting the related mechanisms, have been discussed in this review
