A Family of Multilevel Class-DE Resonant Converters With Full-Range Regulation

Abstract
This article proposes a family of multilevel Class-DE resonant converters (RCs) paired with a full-range voltage regulation method. The proposed converters feature steep gain changes and are fully regulatable while maintaining zero-voltage switching and low-voltage/current stresses. An extensive analysis provides the operation states, voltage-gain curves, voltage/current stresses, and comparisons with different methods. A 140W 2X Class-DE RC prototype was built to validate the analysis. The voltage gains are verified to be continuously adjustable for all load conditions within the 2X frequency range.
