Design Methodology and Implementation of Half-Bridge LLC Resonant Converter

Abstract

DC-DC resonant converter topologies are widely used in the applications of battery charging and renewable energy systems because of their high-power density and high efficiency. LLC resonant converter is the simplest and the most popular type of the resonant converters. In this paper, a half-bridge LLC resonant converter with detailed transformer design is examined by using first harmonic approximation method. A 500W experimental prototype is built to verify the analysis and design methodology, and the maximum efficiency is measured about 97.2%.
