Abstract

The Internet of health things (IoHT) is the application of Internet of things in e-health. In IoHT, a number of interconnected sensors or nodes are used to monitor patients' health continuously and the data collected in this process are used for diagnosis of diseases. In the presence of a pandemic like novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), IoHT-driven services can be deployed at homes or clinics for monitoring of suspected patients and for rapid detection of COVID-19. This chapter discusses the recent developments of healthcare sector under IoHT framework. In this regard, this work provides a description of smartphone applications, buttons, wearable technologies, artificial intelligence-driven technologies including robotics and drone operation for managing COVID-19. IoHT technologies are reviewed in this chapter in three stages: the early detection, the quarantine time, and the after recovery stages. A framework of IoHT for monitoring patients is also presented. Finally, the challenges and possible future applications of IoHT are discussed.
