New insights into the ultimate performance of HgCdTe photodiodes
M. Kopytko, Antoni Rogalski
Abstract
Proposal of a new metric, so-called “Law 19”, for estimation of the HgCdTe performance of photodiodes forces the verification of the ultimate properties of HgCdTe photodiodes, in particular in the long wavelength infrared (LWIR) spectral range. The present work addresses this challenge. Assuming a new benchmark, the HgCdTe photodiodes performance predictions are compared with “Rule 07” metric and confronted with the experimental data available in the literature. The main comparative efforts concern such photodiode parameters as dark currents and the R0A products.
